The V, Seagrove + Majestical Jewelry

I have found the cure for marriage blues!!! What are marriage blues, you ask? You know…when your marriage needs a little spark; when you need to get away from the hustle and bustle of it all; for us, most importantly, when you need time away from technology!!

So here's the cure: Tyler surprised me with a date to a restaurant both of us have never been to before. Since we've only been living in Florida for 8 months, there are still so many restaurants in our area that we haven't touched! I am a TOTAL foodie, so I love exploring the ambiance of a new restaurant and the foods they offer. This restaurant was really cool and had a great outdoor area - so great that we had to be on a waiting list just to sit outside!

Of course, a girl get's all dressed up for a night out and my husband doesn't think to take a picture of my whole outfit. I looooveeed my balloon skirt from JCrew (enter sad face!) but at least he got a picture of my new jewels from Majestical Jewelry! You guys, I have a new obsession with this store!! Everything is so affordable, and I can't get over these gorgeous baubles around my neck!

Fried calamari is my FAV.

So, Tyler and I love Sangria and asked for a red wine sangria at dinner. It was delicious but had whiskey in it...Is this typical for a sangria!? We are used to wine and fruit! It was totally spiked…tasted like college (this metaphor is both good and bad)!

We about fell off of our chairs and died when we had their beignets for dessert. After 10 minutes of giggling and moaning because the powdered sugar was SOOOOOO good and the beignets were so warm, the waiter told us the chef is from New Orleans. Go figure.

We loved these so much we considered going and buying mix to make our own. Then, we quickly ruled out that idea because we don't know how to do that (and I'm cajun…what the!?)

Our night ended with a gorgeous sunset above the sea! I'm telling you - a new restaurant cures the marriage blues!!

I leave you with a picture of my gorgeous jewelry from Majestical Jewelry. I just MIGHT be having a giveaway on my Instagram for these beauties THIS WEEK. Stay tunnneeddddd...

Fondue Recipe

Tyler and I love fondue. Is there a stronger word for love? ADORE fondue. Other than sushi, it's kind of our thing. Whether we're on a date night in town or in another city, you can always find us googling "fondue restaurant". It's no surprise that we had a fondue night this week. I bought a fondue book with recipes and I'm addicted.

By the way, how cute is my fondue pot? It's vintage! Complete with wooden skewers in a variety of colors (and in mint condition!) This was one of my Christmas gifts from Tyler. I'm in love.

If you love to FUN-due, here is the recipe we used for a cheese fondue. It tasted fantastic and I highly recommend trying it. We served it with pita bread, apples, carrots and broccoli.

We bought a huge (and I mean HUGE) bag of tea light candles from Bed, Bath and Beyond and scattered them around our apartment to add a touch of romance. Besides spilling wax on our new carpet, the added romance was totally...romantic!!

You can't have a date night without Netflix! My sweetest husband agreed to watch the Katy Perry documentary with me. I mean, really? What a trooper!!!

I hope you enjoyed our little date night. If you try out the recipe, let me know!

TGIF

Tyler recently shared with me something I did not realize (perhaps because I wasn't aware that anything was about to happen).

The night we got engaged, his fortune cookie read:

Coincidence?

Totally framing this.

Happy Friday :)

Mississippi State Fair

Folks, the fair is in town. Tyler and I have gone every year since we've met, and it's now officially "our thing." For those of you who hate the fair, you may roll your eyes. So I've put a list together on the top ten reasons to love the fair:

1. The smell of fried food - deep fried oreos, donut hamburgers... If you haven't met your calorie requirement for the day, you can easily gain it back with food from the fair. After all, what other time of year can you get fried Kool-aid?
2. The scene you get when the ferris wheel stops at the very top.
3. Feeding the goats, llamas, pigs, horses, cows and feeling their little lips tickling the palm of your hand (ok, this is a kid activity, but oh how I love it so!)
4. When you walk by the Himalaya ride, and their music makes you want to bust a move in the middle of a crowd.
5. The neon lights - this is probably my favorite part. It makes for pretty pictures!
6. The weather - it's usually chilly, and I love the feeling of wind-blown cheeks.
7. Time spent with family - it's so nice for everyone to take a break from the daily bustle and kick it back with a chicken leg and good laughs.
8. Candy apples - the red kind. Oh. My. Word. My poor teeth.
9. Free, hot biscuits and warm syrup. Did I mention they were free? (Yes, we ate four of these. Guilty.)
10. The tradition. Year after year, we make it happen and it's the perfect way to welcome fall.

Make a trip to the fair!
You won't regret it.

We're Engaged: Date Night

I love when you plan your day to be a certain way, and it ends up being completely different than what you expected.

Tyler and I had originally planned to go to the fair, but somehow ended up in Fondren trying on vintage clothes and munching on cheeseburgers from Brent's.

It was a perfect day. I wish there were more spontaneous days like these!

Hope you all are having a great fall break and are learning to change the pace. You never know what you might find if you do.
