10 Places I'd Like to Travel, Pt 2

I have the travel bug.

…who am I kidding - I always have the travel bug! And as much as I hate flying, it never seems to hold me back because experiencing new places and meeting strangers is what I live for.

I feel so bad for Tyler because he never hears the end of it. My go-to lines: "I need a vacation" or "I need to get away" are frequently used in The Weir House.

While I don't see parting ways with work or my computer in the near future, I dream through images on Pinterest of places I want to see one day, and I love to share them with you!

Dream on!

I have found the cure for marriage blues!!! What are marriage blues, you ask? You know…when your marriage needs a little spark; when you need to get away from the hustle and bustle of it all; for us, most importantly, when you need time away from technology!!

So here's the cure: Tyler surprised me with a date to a restaurant both of us have never been to before. Since we've only been living in Florida for 8 months, there are still so many restaurants in our area that we haven't touched! I am a TOTAL foodie, so I love exploring the ambiance of a new restaurant and the foods they offer. This restaurant was really cool and had a great outdoor area - so great that we had to be on a waiting list just to sit outside!

Of course, a girl get's all dressed up for a night out and my husband doesn't think to take a picture of my whole outfit. I looooveeed my balloon skirt from JCrew (enter sad face!) but at least he got a picture of my new jewels from Majestical Jewelry! You guys, I have a new obsession with this store!! Everything is so affordable, and I can't get over these gorgeous baubles around my neck!

Fried calamari is my FAV.

So, Tyler and I love Sangria and asked for a red wine sangria at dinner. It was delicious but had whiskey in it...Is this typical for a sangria!? We are used to wine and fruit! It was totally spiked…tasted like college (this metaphor is both good and bad)!

We about fell off of our chairs and died when we had their beignets for dessert. After 10 minutes of giggling and moaning because the powdered sugar was SOOOOOO good and the beignets were so warm, the waiter told us the chef is from New Orleans. Go figure.

We loved these so much we considered going and buying mix to make our own. Then, we quickly ruled out that idea because we don't know how to do that (and I'm cajun…what the!?)

Our night ended with a gorgeous sunset above the sea! I'm telling you - a new restaurant cures the marriage blues!!

I leave you with a picture of my gorgeous jewelry from Majestical Jewelry. I just MIGHT be having a giveaway on my Instagram for these beauties THIS WEEK. Stay tunnneeddddd...

Disney Magic

Hey folks! Sorry I've been MIA the past two weeks. With starting a new full time job and taking a Disney trip soon after, things have been busy (and not too shabby, either!) If you've been a follower of my blog for some time, you'll know that the last time I visited Disney World was September 11, 2001. I was 12.

I am now 23 and it was my first time stepping back into those gates since the tragic day. I was surprised at how many recollections I had from the last time I was here, i.e. where I was when we got the news, the rides I remembered, pictures I took in certain spots. It was a strange feeling, but it was also great to be back, and let me tell you - things were much better this time around!

If you follow me on Instagram, you've seen these pics but if you don't here is a preview of the amazing time we had at Disney! By the way, can't you tell we are TOTAL foodies!?! Most of my pictures are of food! Hah!

Parks in order from most favorite to least favorite:
  1. Epcot (duh. I'm a nomad at heart)
  2. Animal Kingdom (cannot get enough of cute animals! I want a pink flamingo!)
  3. Magic Kingdom (a mess ton of strollers)
  4. MGM (not enough to do??)
Favorite ride: Expedition Everest in Animal Kingdom (the BEST roller coaster)

Best snack: Those salted Mickey pretzels and the cupcakes form Animal Kingdom. OH MY WORD. A yellow cake cupcake with an iced vanilla coffee while listening to reggae music in Africa was LEGIT. It's a must visit!

Stay tuned, exciting news this week! (We're not having children. But I guess you could say it's a child equivalent.) :)

Blog Re-design!

New Re-design! HOORAY!

I loved my blog design before, but lately I've been summer dreamin' and since I live 5 seconds away from the ocean, I thought, "why not?"

It all began on Sunday, the day Tyler and I take our usual "beach picnic" break. Our break consists of books, no shoes and a big blanket for sprawling out!  As I was sitting on the blanket admiring the scenery (and breeze!), I realized what a beautiful place I live in. Don't get me wrong - I've always known I live in a beautiful place but I've never really taken full advantage of living in a beach town! With the wedding and moving to Florida during the holidays, it's been the last thing on my mind.

I want to change that this year.

Hence, the new design: more posts about beach life, more bikini's, more palm trees, snorkeling, bicycling (get the full scoop on Instagram @kaylynweir). You know, beach stuff! Coming from Mississippi where we have lots and lots of tall trees and woods, I shaped my blog around owls and mushrooms. Really woodsy…woods no longer! Bring it, beach!

It's really starting to feel like a whole new year with new changes and new jobs. The excitement is almost unbearable!

Ps. Today is the first day at my new job! Nervessss!! Say a prayer for me!

Polar Vortex Hits Florida

Those aren't raindrops, my friends. That is ice…on a palm tree. Have you ever seen such?! Tyler and I were watching the Bachelor last night when a warning appeared on our TV saying "freeze warning for Walton County". We both looked at each other in amazement. "Surely, this can't possibly be for us?" we thought. Fast forward to today and what do you know. It's sleeting! I can't say I'm sad. I am a cold weather fanatic (and my Groom got to stay home from work!) This polar vortex seems to be working in our favor, after all.

Stay warm and dry!

Fondue (Again)

As I mentioned in a previous post, we had Tyler's family visit our town this weekend. We hit up pizza shops, fudge and ice cream parlors, fondue and breakfast restaurants. It was a FEAST thanks to The Weirs! Below is one of our favorite spots to eat fondue. You could call us "regulars".

What is with my fondue obsession!?!?!

Pizza By the Sea

Tyler's family came into town this weekend. It was short lived (we wish they would've stayed longer!) but we enjoyed every minute of it no less. It was our first time to really play "tour guide" and show people around this picturesque town we live in. It makes you appreciate where you live and really see a different side of it, almost as if you're taking a "stay-cation".

The first part of the "tour" was taking them to a local pizza spot. A cute courtyard with homegrown herbs located steps from the gulf sets the tone for this pizza bar. My favorite thing to eat is the prosciutto and cheese pizza. So fresh and flavorful! I love a restaurant that aims to be unique while providing fresh food. A+ for me!

Pure pizza heaven

Are you a pizza fan? Good ole Pizza Hut or a top notch pizza place?
