Someday I Will

This post was inspired by Helene In Between. After reading "Someday I Will" on her blog, I told myself I had to write about the same idea because any post that gets me closer to my dreams and ambitions is a post I love!

I once read a blog where a mom would post 3 of her current dreams on her refrigerator. She wouldn't focus on any other goals until she completed those 3, and she mentioned how it worked for her. Tyler and I have recently decided to do the same thing. I believe seeing your goals every day get you one step closer to actually completing them. But, I have to be honest here - Tyler and I have really good follow through. Most of the times, if we talk about it, it will happen at some point. People call us dreamers, and we totally are, but we also do what we say we're going to do, and I'm thankful to have that kind of characteristic.

So, as I sit on my couch "dreaming" of my next goals in life, watching the palm tree outside of my window sway to the rain, I can't help but think of how:

Someday I will own land. 1 acre, 5 acres, 15 acres. The quantity is unknown, but Tyler and I will have land with a cabin, four wheelers, a pond to fish, and a fire pit to roast marshmallows. This isn't a dream that we feel we have to complete right now, but it is a dream that will be completed.

Someday I will live in Europe. Legitimately live there, not just visit. I've dreamt about this for over 8 years now. I don't know what city or for how long, but living somewhere unfamiliar to me sounds exciting...and it doesn't have to be Europe! It can be Japan. I geniunely would live in Japan.

Someday I will work with Tyler. We will leave our businesses and create one together. I love this kid so much. I totally know what you are thinking - newlywed love. But we have been together for over 4 years now, and I still complain when he leaves for work. I want to be with him all day every day!! Plus, he is so incredibly talented. We both have an artistic side that operates completely differently and to me, that makes for a fabulous business.

Someday I will walk into a store and buy 1 color of everything. For example, when I see a pair of shoes I love that come in 4 different colors, I want to buy all 4 colors! Or when I walk in JCrew, and see a cute striped shirt in 10 colors, I want to walk out with all 10 shirts. This has been a silly dream of mine. I've always wondered what it's like having it in every color. Therefore, this WILL happen!

Someday I will live in NYC. This is actually the one dream that probably scares me the most. Not living in Europe or Japan, not starting a business, but living in New York City. Why? Because I feel that it is uber expensive; that the talent there is ginormous and competition is stiff; that everyone has the same dream and maybe the city will overpopulate. Haha. Either way, I could live here for 6 months or a year. I just want that experience in the Big Apple.

Someday I will choose where I'm going at the airport. I'm sure you've seen the dart on a map type deal? Wherever it lands, you go? I would love to draw a location out of a hat at the airport, and simply GO! Or wake up at 2 AM and decide I want to go to Paris. Can you guys tell that I love to travel?

Someday I will write a book. It can be a picture book, a DIY book, a travel book. I just want to publish a book of my adventures.

For right now, these are things I dream about. Huge dreams! But anything is possible. It just depends on how badly you want them.

What are your dreams?

  4. I love this idea and this post! I've always wanted to choose where I'm going at the airport and take a spontaneous trip. AND my life goal is to live in Europe for at least a little while. I hope you get to accomplish all of these goals!
