Now that he is working from 9-5 (not to mention he likes to get in a bit more work after hours) I'm extremely bored.
I already hear your questions - what about my business? My business is back in Jackson where my business partner manages the clients, and I do everything that requires being behind a computer (graphics, editing, banners). I'm technically a fast, don't break my attention span, get it done type worker. Hence = I have more time on my hands than most.
I spend roughly 10 hours a day by myself, and 4 hours a day with my groom. And I don't like it.
So, I was talking to my mother on the phone mentioning how bored I am...and she tells me that I should try a new hobby, like knitting. Seeing as though I have never knitted and couldn't sew a button back on to save my life, I laughed and quickly put that idea on the back burner.
Cut to last week:
It's my usual morning - I wake up, put a K-cup in the Keurig and wait for my coffee to brew. I post my daily blog post and see what others are doing. Blogger to me is like Pinterest - you click on something that takes you to something else, that takes you to something else, that takes you to something else. Then, you look back at where you began and wonder how in the world you got to where you are. That's me.
Luckily, I found a blog (do I remember the name? No.) and the woman mentions how her hobby is Paint by Number. My initial thought: those still exist?
And then I did some googling.
Yes, they still exist. I realized I liked to paint, especially when someone tells me how. So I bought a kit, it arrived at my door a week later, and I'm painting up a storm.
It's so fun! For those of you that want a hobby but don't know what to do, it doesn't get easier than a sheet telling you where to put what color. I'm hooked! It's challenging enough because the spaces to paint are extremely tiny and weirdly shaped, but it's fun enough that you are guaranteed a pretty painting!

I'll be keeping you guys updated on the process. I have a feeling it's going to take me a while. Ha!
What are your hobbies? Any recommendations?
How fun! My daughter loves to paint by numbers - such a great way to spend your time! xxx
ReplyDeleteYour daughter has a lot of patience! I am losing my mind with these little spaces! It's also quite addicting and I'm having trouble stopping.
DeleteWhat a fun hobby! Looks like it will come out looking super cute too. I really want to learn how to knit and crochet--but as a student I find myself struggling for extra free time. :( I'm a fan of everything crafty though. This summer I started an art journal. It's basically a scrapbook but with my favorite quotes and clippings from magazines with lots of glitter and buttons and such.
ReplyDeletehave a great day! x

Oh my goodness! Your art journal just took me back to when I had an art journal. I need to start that up again!! :)
DeleteOoh I like this! All the paint by number I've seen have really weird scenes and weren't my style but I like this! We actually have a restaurant in Minneapolis that is only decorated with paint by number. It's really fun! Where did you get the kit from?
ReplyDeleteOmg! I want to go to that restaurant. What an interesting idea for restaurant decor. I just googled Paint By Number kits. I think this one came from herrschners.com. You should try it out. I totally know what you mean by the weird scenes though. A lot of them are!
DeleteOkay I was expecting some type of like Lisa Frank (remember those?!) painting! That's so chic and GORGEOUS!!
ReplyDeleteOkay. I waste my time a lot and need things to do besides sit on my butt and watch tv and I think I need to take up paint by number. It sounds fun.
